Today, the production of clean steel is one of the goals of modern steel factories, and secondary metallurgy processes play a key role. Therefore, in the operation inside the laddle, which is carried out to control slag, it is crucial to create a synthetic slag that can absorb the products of deoxygenation and protect the steel from re-oxidation, and if necessary, desulfurize it. if so, then the goal of producing clean steel can be achieved. Nasozpooshesh Sepahan was established in 2000 with the aim of producing synthetic slag (calcium aluminate) and as the first domestic producer, it is one of the main suppliers of this product for major steel mills in the country.

The effect of calcium aluminate on the molten steel :

Extending laddle life

The need for feldspar (CAF2) is eliminated, and considering that feldspar is extremely corrosive and toxic, with this method, the life of the laddle is increased.

Oxygenation, sulfurization and impurity removal

Due to low melting point, it is quickly melted in the crucible and the molten steel is deoxygenated, desulfurized, and gets free of impurities and the slag gets created.

Absorption of undesirable non-metallic elements

non-metallic elements get trapped inside the molten slag and so the micrographic properties get improved.

Reduction of LF process time

It enables faster mixing of metal and slag. Therefore, it increases the speed of desulfurization and reduces the process time in the LF.

Less energy and electrodes to melt

A slag coating is quickly formed, which consumes less energy and electrode to melt than charging aluminum and lime separately.

Prevent re-oxidation of iron

It prevents re-oxidation of iron and reduces the possibility of carbon pollution, due to formation of the synthetic slag on top of laddle surface.
